so ive been writing a summary of interview with the vampire bc i wanna talk about it with my therapist but she told me that she could not read the whole thing, so Ive been rereading it and one thing that really stuck out to me was just how objectively awful Louis and Lestats relationship is in this book, especially when you compare it to the one in this series I read most recently, queen of the damned, which I thought ended on a very cute and nice note for them, but then I thought about it for a moment longer and I was like "yeah sure, Lestat was being very silly and playful and having a lot of fun bothering that Davidguy but I actually dont remember Louis being anything other than stressed out" so now Im like oh my god. are you telling me when Lestat was laughing at him for being upset at ghe thought of being a murderer, and also did all the other shit that I cant even begin to recount if I want this post to be somewhat concise, that was him trying to be playful?

starting the audiobook for tale of the body thief. the dramatic reading of a Yeats poem going into "the vampire lestat here" almost made me start cackling in public

i've started reading tvl and no amount of posts telling me there's a "huge tonal shift" could have prepared me for this HUGE TONAL SHIFT this is the funniest fucking thing i've ever read it genuinely goes like:

lestat, narrator of tvl: hey guys, my name is lestat, you may know me because i'm really hot and sexy. english isn't my first language so sorry if i make any mistakes!! okay here's my story: after rotting beneath the earth for decades, my hot and sexy body has finally risen from the ground. i used to be depressed, but now i'm slutting it up again in the 20th century! first thing i did was get some (hot and sexy) new clothes and then wore them while riding my (hot and sexy) motorcycle and listening to bach on my sony walkman. while i was watching this super niche indie film (you've probably not heard of it) "apocalypse now" i realized that i'm so evil that i shouldn't exist. but then i realized what could make me deserve to live on this planet: rock n roll music.

I just finished Queen of the Damned and really dont have much to say about it, I think its very good despite all the stuff ive previously complained about and I had a great time reading it, except, imagine being Daniel. Imagine being a human guy in a toxic relationship with a vampire for over a decade, begging him to turn you into a vampire but he just keeps refusing until youre close to death and he finally turns you, and then like three absolutely insane days later you watch a living goddess get decapitated. imagine
